MERCIndy seeks to provide Sheltered Instruction Observation Protocol (SIOP) training for local educators. We will offer three tracks: “SIOP Foundations” for educators who are new to The SIOP Model, “SIOP Train the Trainer” (ToT) for educators who have received previous SIOP training, and “Co-Teaching with SIOP” for EL teachers and grade level/content teachers who want to co-teach with the SIOP model. The training will be spread out over four, four-hour sessions (9 a.m. to 1 p.m.). Location TBD (potentially Marian University). Details about each training track can be found below.
SIOP Foundations
Audience:
Educators who are NEW to SIOP
Objective:
At the conclusion of each session, participants will be able to integrate the SIOP components into their everyday instruction
SIOP Train the Trainer
Audience:
Educators who have previously been trained in SIOP
Objective:
At the conclusion of each session, participants will be able to create SIOP program model professional development within their context
Co Teaching with SIOP
Audience:
EL teachers and grade level or content teachers who want to co-teach with the SIOP model
Objective:
At the conclusion of each session, participants will be able to identify how SIOP enhances co-teaching partnerships
