Allison Segarra

Founder

Allison is an English as a Foreign Language (EFL)/English as a Second Language (ESL) certified teacher and teacher trainer with eighteen years of experience in education. She has served as an English Language (EL) teacher, director, and consultant. She has also taught English as a New Language (ENL) courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Allison studied Spanish as her second language at Yanapuma Spanish School in Quito, Ecuador and taught English as Foreign Language in San Pedro de Macorís, Dominican Republic. Allison has trained teachers, administrators, and staff (P-20) locally, nationally, and internationally.


She holds a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Saint Joseph’s College and Master of Science in Literacy, Culture, and Language Education from Indiana University. She is currently enrolled in the Urban Education Studies PhD program at IUPUI. In addition to being Founder & CEO of MERCIndy, Allison serves Marian University as Assistant Professor of Education in Klipsch Educators College. Allison was recognized as an “Elevated Latino Under 40” by the Indiana Latino Institute in 2023.

In her free time Allison enjoys exercising, going to concerts and spending time with her friends and family.
